If you manage to get your employer to get a SR open for you on the I140, chances are, you'll get your I140 approved before you'll get any response to the SR, since USCIS takes that ridiculous 45 business days to respond.

Also looks like Sec. 501 Earned Access to Legalization may apply only to illegals.

When does the "Approval notice sent" status appear, it is about 7 days since I got the production ordered.

Hello,
With me having a pd even prior to of Mar 2002-EB3I, I thought I will join hands with IV to make something happen. To the extent I went and joined the IV chapter too.
Unfortunately, starting with the forum to most of the news that is being discussed seems to be not related to immigration at all. Example, accidents, investments, real estate. I feel the admin should be able to control and strictly adhere to what ImmigrationVoice stands for and delete any other unrelated threads.
Anyway, long story short, I feel IV has lost its focus and feels like for people who are looking at a proper approach to resolving problems, the web site does not give any reason or confidence, to follow or join hands for IV activities.
Just my opinion. Feel free to agree to disagree whoever would like to.
Not trying to blame anybody here, but sharing a viewpoint. In my opinion IV was great sometime back, but feel now there is a lack of direction.
I understand there could be lot of negative & positive comments about my reply here or me joining activities etc or not joining IV initiatives etc. I will explain my stance on those later.

Will it really create ablity to pay issue when an employer keeps many I140s without pay and create a problem for future Gc processing? If that is really an issue then cancelling I140 is not retaliation. People can post their views.
You have used AC21 after 180 days then what is there to worry? Even if you receive RFE you can reply and you can get GC.
Looks like "yes", especially if a companyh is sponsering too many GCs for people who are not on the payroll - they have to prove they have enough funds to pay the future employees.
It is the desi Attorneys who give suggestions to Desi employers to withdraw 140 to avoid ability to pay issues.

I have sold some items in eBay in the past, If I rememver correctly, when I sold something for $10 and the buyer made a paypal payment, paypal took $1.5 as fees.
So if you are making $20, only $17 goes to IV, IF the amount is >=50 I believe the fees is much lesser (like 5%) so more money goes to IV instead of making paypal rich.

I revisited this thread today and saw several heartwrenching stories of some of our IV members. One way for IV to help you is through letting your situation be known to others via media. We have a few opportunities and if you are interested please send an email to himanshu at immigrationvoice.org. Do not PM me since my PM box gets filled very often.
It will not only help all of us generate awareness about our plight to american public, lawmakers too will be influenced by the magnitude of problems we face while waiting patiently in line for several years. I feel media is a great tool and we can use it very effectively when we all can get our message across in the world outside of this forum. Once we get IV members ready to volunteer for such interviews and to talk about their plight, IV will try its best to get their voices heard.
It will not only help all of us generate awareness about our plight to american public, lawmakers too will be influenced by the magnitude of problems we face while waiting patiently in line for several years. I feel media is a great tool and we can use it very effectively when we all can get our message across in the world outside of this forum. In fall 2003, an applicant filed a green card application, which remained pending due to FBI name checks until spring 2007. During the course of the adjudication, the applicant was fingerprinted and applied for interim benefits several times.
Although the applicant applied for most of the interim benefits in a timely manner, the filing of the last EAD was not timely, and the applicant had to end his employment. I've started calling and made first call to the chairman's office. I told the man that I'd called to express my grattitude and thank the chairman. Then I requested the chairman to take a yes/no vote on this bill and to take the bill to its logical conclusion, at least in the Jud Committee.
Please remember, "thank you" packs awesome power and all members should convery their thanks to the chairman and request a vote on the bill for logical conclusion.
I have not finished calling yet and I iwll update the poll only after I have made all the calls. From this thread it looks like the hearing is on 24th. If that is the case I will make the calls tomorrow so that I could actually talk to someone.

Sure, your point is very much valid. What I understand from the Freakenomics experiment and EB3I behavior with respect to IV is that only a few folks have the perseverance to go all the way from D to B.
Take 100 folks with C grade and give them the $50 offer for B. May be 80% will reach that goal. (I do not recall the actual results of the experiment).
Take 100 folks with D grade and give them the $50 offer for B. Ideally we should see 80% of folks improving their grade to a C (one level up). But in real life only may be half as much (40%) will actually improve their grades to a C.
At this point and esp from states like TN, IN, MO, AR, KS, KY, MO, OH, WI, AZ, NV, NM, UT, CO, OR, NE ..... I will gladly take the 40%, why, I will be happy with 20%!!!!!!!!!!!
Members from these states, remember, that your lawmaker will vote on all immigration bills - the questions are 1. whether our provisions are in the bill 2. have we talked to our lawmakers about our issues and 3. will they vote for us? ----- All three tie to our participation and our communication. As simple as that.

So basically, an unlawfull alien residing in US for past 5 years gets change his status to PR, moreover he is not restricted by the per country limit he can go from filing I-485 to get a Visa number allotted to him practically overnight..and not having to wait like folks from India or China ....
I dont think this bills has anything favourable to legal immigrants... It better to apply as the other category ....

You most probably have half the education that I have, your salary is most likely half that of mine, and your moral standard is probably half that of mine. If I start ridiculing you more, you will suffer sleepless nights. So I won't do it (after this post, I mean).

Isnt the goal of Education to make a person a better person, morally and otherwise? Is this what your education got you to? All of your Education (I am assuming you have four MS degrees, two PHd, as you have twice mine, and about 300K salary) is a total waste, if you stick up your head to support someone who does shop-lifting and have no qualms about it ( i have definitely not seen any statement to that effect from the OP, just seeking "immigration" advise). There should be an option for people to contribute smaller sums on a regular basis. I believe in the say 'little drops of water ...'. If the threshold is lower, there will be more contributions.
In my opinion, the fear that folks that are contributing 50$ will switch to lower sums is unfounded. There is nothing that stops them from stopping their contributions altogether even now.
Secondly, I did not answer the poll. The question is not very clear to me

My I485 is still pending (> 180 days filed on July27th '07). I have my renewed EAD valid for the next 2 years. I have been out of project for 4 months and my employer , who filed my GC, terminated my health coverage too. Iam using my COBRA option.
Recently, i have applied for a perm position using EAD . I explained to the client about by current status of GC. They wanted to know what they are supposed to do for it. I told them i need to 'invoke' a law called AC21.(pardon my ignorance if iam wrong) inorder to transfer my pending application.
Now the big question is, how do i initiate this whole process?
I really apreaciate all your suggestions.
