I went through the Federal Firearm Law and here is what I found:
(d) It shall be unlawful for any person to sell or otherwise dispose of any firearm or ammunition to any person knowing or having reasonable cause to believe that such person�
(5) who, being an alien�
(A) is illegally or unlawfully in the United States; or
(B) except as provided in subsection (y)(2), has been admitted to the United States under a nonimmigrant visa (as that term is defined in section 101(a)(26) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1101 (a)(26)));

Check ICICI. I think it is called a NRE account. You can fund it in Dollars and Rupees and it could be repatriated in Dollars. So just open the account and have them deposit the monies India, you can draw it here. This kind of account is for NRI's who earn an income in India and want to access it here.
There is a limit I think but it must be like $25K..

There were strict repatriation rules in the days when $s were in demand in India. These days RBI wishes there were less $s in the market. One of the reasons why the outflow is liberalized.

Well, I like you because you are just a straight shooter. If you are such a straight shooter then let me do some straight talk, so just catch this.
Your American mid-size company or Desi small size or super size company will get $180/hr but you will not get even $50/hr from the same client even when you go direct. So no matter how "highly-skilled" you think you are, your non-compete argument is not good enough for you not to be able directly market yourself, because there are gazillion other companies using BI, Cognos, BO, Informatica, Datastage and every similar crap. You can impress a few people by naming some technologies that maybe hot but they don't mean a &hit if you market them yourself. Here is why. A lot of people blame the lack of GC as a reason to be exploited. That is part of the problem. The other part of the problem is that most hiring managers in large companies get commission from these small, mid-size or large American, Desi or European consulting companies. That's why in most cases they always hire through one of these companies. They will not hire directly because the manager thinks you to be a stingy desi, and if he hires you directly the hiring manager will not see a dime, so why will he hire you directly? This is a big cycle of corruption and everybody is part of it including lawmakers who get contributions from lobbyist/representatives of these small, mid and large size companies. You think lawmakers don't know what is going on? You think client doesn't know that you make 85K when the middle company get $180/hr? You think the big-bosses at the company/client doesn't know that the hiring managers are getting favors from middle companies? You think lawmakers doesn't know that immigrant worker waiting for long delayed GC is bonded to an employer that buys employee retention insurance policy for the employer? They all know it. Keep updating your tech skill
Diversify to more ( but related ) skill.
Add niche like PMP / Six Sigma.
Top of all , little bit of Luck , to be right place at the right time .

Hi Gurus,
I am in a unique situation and your valuable advice is highly appreciated. I worked for company A for 3 years and filed my 140 and 485(july 2007). I quit the company in may this year and joined another company. My 140 was approved on 06/16/2006. recently my previous employer revoked my I-140. I got a notice from USCIS that my I-140 and I-485 has been withdrawn. As per my new attorney since i meet all the conditions for job porting (180 days, 140 approved, and same job profile), no one else other than me can withdraw my I-485 application. my attorney filed an MTR today. Can i work while my MTR is pending. Is Withdrawal acknowledgement notice is same as denial notice ? please help

OKay, when I commented on the English, I was trying to be funny (which obviously I am working on) and see if that can help you in the misinterpretation angle.
Also, when someone does not support your theory, he/she is actually supporting you, by letting you know that your theory does not sound reasonable.
Contact a Taiwanese/Asian lawyer and ask him to help you. You can add him as a lawyer, and even if you are replacing your lawyer, and if asked, you can claim language barriers with the old lawyer.
And no, we are not experts here, and no one has claimed to be one, but I believe the real purpose of yours posting your situation here was to have ideas. There are thousands of thoughts going thru your mind on this situation and you are definitely not able to see thru clearly.

As travelled much between Asia countrys, no much time staying is US office although I based here. Yes, my English is poor and broken but this is not a fake story, make no sense for me. Just kill the time???
When cops knock out your room, handcuff your hands on the back, force you stay down at the corner , if you could keep calm and state very clearly. I can only show my respect but unfortunately I did not make it. This is my first time. :( Should be the last time either.
Now the negative point is mostly from my statement, no matter whether you believe, the attorney told me drag with anger is battery. we think that's okay does not mean it is okay on the law. So I wish you guys be careful on this kind of play around to avoid any trouble. I knew you all have better english than me. so you could explain clearly :) But Same level, do it on your spouse is even worse on a stranger.
I create this thread just wish listen your opinion and try public view how much chance I can win the jury trail. Some of your advice is really helpful and I will take them.
My wife is writing the mail to DA and wish it helpful to my case. I will have several rehearsal with my attorney in coming weeks. Anyway, we will fight for the justice and not accept that ridiculous battery charge.

I applied for FOIA on my 140/485 petitions and I have got scanned copies of the file. It took more than an year to get the copies.
To my surprise and disappointment, 140 approval notice was not included in the copies they have sent.
When you file FOIA, that what you are supposed to get. If you want the approval notice you should have I-864. FOIA, request only gets you the documents in file.

PD is illogical since many of us had to change jobs and do what not and start afresh and still saw no light at the end of the tunnel.

Thanx for sharing ur experience. Could u pls lemme know the documents that u mailed along with the I-765 renewal form? As per the instructions form what we need to mail to the Service center is:
1. Filled I-765 form (latest)
2. Copy of existing EAD card(front and back)
3. Check for $ 340 (for ppl who filed for EAD b4 July 30 -2007) in favour of US Dept of homeland security
4. Copy of I-485 receipt
5. 2 Photos with specifications as mentioned in the instructions form
***If one is self-paper filing its not necessary to do FP***
Am I missing something? If so, pls let us know.
I'm about to file my EAD extension and will be filling up the form in a day or two. I'll email u if I have any questions on what to fill. But in the mean time, pls confirm if the required documentation is correct :).

yeah.. So another reason to keep looking at the visa bulletins now. Once i get a GC I buy a house and get a gun. The american dream. ;-)
Thats my kind of dream. Just one addition to my list of things to do upon receiving my GC.
I will buy a house, get a gun and JOIN A LOCAL RELIGIOUS PLACE and choose my lord and savior. Hey, I want a passport to the heaven from here, I don't want to stand in green card line of heaven or go to hell.
BTW, move over here to WA state and you can buy a gun.

Hi,
After multiple requests to my employer, i finally was able to get a scanned copy of my I-140 approval notice. It's just the approval notice and not the original I-140.
My questions is, is that enough to port my PD in case i want to change my job and switch the company??
